I want to go home...
I want my time back.
I had a wonderful day yesterday...
I had a day off.
I spent all day making memories...
I spent all day with those I love.
I need more of that.
Two words,
calmly said.
"I wouldn't."
Line drawn
in stone.
the coward
halted instantly.
Grateful then...
Moreso now.
Manly example.
Not violent,
but willing,
when principle requires.
Retirement Fishing
our pond
tiny ripples
we drift
oblivious, into
the wire,
the pointless...
barbed wire.
shirt shredded,
tiny trickle
draws attention.
how frail
Dad's hands
have become.
Heat swells.
Far distant
Storm clouds
Loom large,
Move, morph.
While here
Nothing happens;
Dead still,
'cept bugs.
Corn flies
Flit by,
Break peace.
Hot July
Distant fireworks
Painted clouds
Cool breeze
Deck chairs
Just us
Full cups
No words
Complete calm
Perfection.
Surreal moments.
So many!
Why now?
No reason?
Divine intervention?
Such calm;
Internal progress...
One day,
All changed.
Rough waters.
But why?
After years of being a night owl,
Decades really,
By way of courtesy to others
' need for sleep,
Even in daylight, this is still one of those,
Anxiety inducing moments:
Counting down those last few seconds
on the microwave.
Little lost hotdog.
Light of day reveals:
Marshmallow pokers,
Glass bottles, lawn chairs
Hershey wrappers strewn
Massive campfire
Powerless to cook
This escaped hotdog.
