shirt shredded,
tiny trickle
draws attention.
how frail
Dad's hands
have become.

Heat swells.
Far distant
Storm clouds
Loom large,
Move, morph.
While here
Nothing happens;
Dead still,
'cept bugs.
Corn flies
Flit by,
Break peace.

Surreal moments.
So many!
Why now?
No reason?
Divine intervention?
Such calm;
Internal progress...
One day,
All changed.
Rough waters.
But why?
