our pond
tiny ripples
we drift
oblivious, into
the wire,
the pointless...
barbed wire.
shirt shredded,
tiny trickle
draws attention.
how frail
Dad's hands
have become.

Heat swells.
Far distant
Storm clouds
Loom large,
Move, morph.
While here
Nothing happens;
Dead still,
'cept bugs.
Corn flies
Flit by,
Break peace.

Surreal moments.

No reason?
Divine intervention?
Such calm;
