Then
What is this?
This is my "Then" page. It contains a record of what I have been doing "right now".... but previously. If you want to see what i'm doing right now... well then you'll have to go to my Now page.

I am a full time Sr. Business Analyst at Charter Communications where I work as a subject matter expert in their internal ITSM tool. My team is actively migrating tools from Cherwell to Ivanti after their recent merger. I'm responsible for the conversion of over 4,000 processes. I am actively making an effort to delegate and trust my team to accomplish the technical tasks that I have done in the past. I am steadily getting better at this, but letting go of all those challenging tasks is proving more difficult for me than I expected. Perhaps the most consistently productive aspect of my life is due to the fact that I work an hour away from my office... so during my commute I listen to a lot of audio books (see the books page for my recently read books).
I spend time at our family's Coffee House during the rush before work every week-day and all day every Saturday. I thoroughly enjoy the time I get to spend participating in the growth of our little community. We recently went to a coffee collective and have been making changes to our setup as a result! There are a lot of moving parts behind the scenes.
Speaking of community growth, every Sunday morning, I facilitate the worship service at our growing church by working the soundboard. This has been an ongoing learning experience for me since I stepped into the open role a couple years ago. I've since trained another sound engineer, and we are now learning together. The past several months, we've replaced the main speakers, added subwoofers, introduced new monitors, figured out the whole EQ thing, and added auxiliary speakers to the bathrooms/outdoors. We're now in the process of refurbishing the sound absorption panels, re-routing the wiring (previously hanging all over the auditorium) into the attic, and just added a stagebox to improve modularity
In my free time, I'm either spending time with my family, overhauling this website to expand my programming capabilities, or incrementally reading thru a book (I am still reading physical copies of "What Have we Here" by Billy Dee Williams and "Discourses" by Epictetus.... I haven't had much time for these recently, but they have both inspired change in my life... these books are STILL not finished!)
Earlier this year, I added writing poetry to my daily activities... particularly Haiku. I wrote about this in a previous blog post. in April I participated in a "30 poems in 30 days" challenge I stumbled upon after I began writing haiku. Three months of writing poetry nearly ever day (and at over 100 poems completed, I'm doing better than 1 per day), it isn't exactly a habit... but I am enjoying taking the time to look for, meditate on, and capture a moment from most days. It's a challenge that is forcing me to slow down without feeling wasteful of my time.
Mariah and I recently accomplished a major financial goal, and have been putting more focus on some of our other financial goals that we had to sideline... I'm not sure yet if I want to share them in detail in this site, but some are purely financial, some are more like life improvements... needless to say, we're making positive traction in ways that we are VERY exited about.
I have placed my ITSM coding project on hold... but plan to come back to it. There has just been too many more important things for me to be doing.
Oh! And my desktop computer's RAM fried itself several weeks ago when my granddaughter pressed the blinking power button... So I've been rebuilding my OS and working environment.

I've recently added writing poetry to my daily activities... particularly Haiku. I wrote about this in a previous blog post. in April I participated in a "30 poems in 30 days" challenge I stumbled upon after I began writing haiku. Two months of writing poetry nearly ever day (and 90 poems completed), it isn't quite a habit yet... but I am still enjoying taking the time to look for, meditate on, and capture a moment from each day. It's a challenge that is forcing me to slow down without feeling wasteful of my time.
The weather this past month or so has been so nice that I haven't been working on much that can be shared online, mostly personal and relational growth. I have begun a new coding project that has been gnawing at my brain for several years. I am attempting to create my own ITSM tool... Mostly for my own learning at this point, but I'll be sure to make it available when I get it working to my satisfaction... stay tuned.
